What are the differences between secondment and temporary employment?

If you are trying to decide between secondment or temporary employment, it is important to understand the differences. In this blog, we tell you how secondment at Maandag® differs from temporary employment. Read on, take the quiz and find out which form of employment suits you best.

The differences between secondment and temporary employment

In both secondment and temporary employment, you work for different clients. For example, when a temporary replacement for an employee is needed, or when additional employees are required. There are some big differences between secondment and temporary employment. This mainly involves the contract and the type of assignment you can expect.

Type of contract

If you work as a seconded professional at Maandag®, you will receive a contract with fixed hours. Your secondment contract may be extended or converted into a permanent contract. Temporary employment involves flexible hours and no fixed end date. Your contract ends when the assignment ends.

Type of assignment

Seconded professionals are usually specialists in a particular field, with specific qualities or knowledge of a particular topic. For example, a nurse, teacher, financial adviser or lawyer. In temporary employment, positions with and without a training requirement are available. Positions with a training requirement are, for example, personal healthcare assistant, receptionist or teaching assistant. If you would you like to work as a customer service representative, for example, you can do that without specific training.

The advantages of secondment at Maandag®

  • You have a contract with good working conditions and fixed hours. You can count on a stable salary.

  • There is a lot of focus on personal development and coaching, with all kinds of training opportunities through the Maandag® Academy.

  • You will quickly gain varied work experience at different companies.

  • Secondment is good for your network; you regularly meet new people in your field.
