About the Position

Start: ASAP Duration: 6 months Location: Stockholm, on-site Setup: Fixed-term employment or consultancy assignment

We are looking for an experienced Interim CTO / Technology Leader to join a fast-growing, technology-driven company during an important phase of expansion. This is a six-month interim assignment where you will take overall responsibility for the technology organisation while the current CTO is on leave. You will lead a highly skilled team and ensure continued delivery, technical stability and progress against the product and technology roadmap. The organisation is currently scaling both its technology platform and its teams, making this a role that combines strategic technology leadership with hands-on operational decision-making.

About the role As Interim CTO, you will lead several technical and product-focused teams working across areas such as machine learning, optimization, platform development and product engineering. A key part of your responsibility will be to ensure that business priorities are translated into clear technical direction. You will balance new development with the reliability and performance of systems operating continuously in a live environment. The technology organisation currently consists of approximately 20 people and is expected to grow significantly during the assignment. You will therefore play an important role in developing both the organization and its ways of working as the company scales. You will report directly to the CEO and be part of the management team.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and support technical and product teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Own and drive execution of the existing technology and product roadmap.
  • Prioritise development initiatives based on technical requirements and business impact.
  • Ensure stability, performance and continuous development of business-critical production systems.
  • Coach and develop team leads and support them in becoming strong leaders in a growing organization.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding as the technology organization expands.
  • Improve processes, structures and ways of working to support continued growth.
  • Communicate technical priorities, opportunities and trade-offs to management and other key stakeholders.
  • Translate the company's broader strategy into clear direction for the technology organization.
  • Work closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, we believe that you have:

  • Senior experience leading technology or engineering organisations, including multidisciplinary teams and other technology leaders.
  • Experience from a fast-growing company, scale-up or similarly dynamic environment, supporting organisations through growth and change.
  • Experience owning technology and/or product roadmaps and driving delivery.
  • Experience with data-intensive, analytics-driven, optimisation-based or machine-learning products.
  • Experience with business-critical systems operating continuously in production.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience from technically complex or highly regulated industries is considered an advantage.
  • Experience with modern cloud environments, Python, data workflows, distributed systems or service-oriented architectures is beneficial; energy-sector experience is a bonus.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is comfortable moving between strategy, leadership and technology. We would like to see that you can participate in high-level discussions with senior stakeholders while still understanding the technical challenges faced by engineering teams. It is also important to be proactive and comfortable making decisions in an environment where priorities can change quickly. Rather than waiting for perfect information, you create direction and help teams move forward. It would be nice to see that you also enjoy developing other leaders. As the organization grows, your ability to coach, delegate and create effective structures will be just as important as your own technical expertise.

This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys high-growth environments, complex technology and the opportunity to make a significant impact during a concentrated period of time.
