AI & Automation Architect - Enterprise AI, Automation & Autonomous Operations
Project-based consulting work for clients, delivering expertise and solutions on a flexible basis.
About the Position
Start: As soon as possible Duration: Full time until 2027-12-31 Location: Remote, within EU
We are looking for an AI & Automation Architect to help shape the future technology landscape of a global, innovation-driven organisation. The company operates internationally and is investing heavily in technology, automation and digital solutions to create more efficient, connected and sustainable ways of working.
In this role, you will define how AI, automation and autonomous operations can become an integrated part of the enterprise technology landscape. You will take ideas from business problem to production platform, working across AI, cloud, infrastructure, network, security, workplace and service management. You will define target architectures, select appropriate technologies and models, establish reusable patterns and ensure that solutions are secure, scalable and operationally viable.
The role combines strategic architecture with hands-on technology work. You will prototype, evaluate technologies, review designs and guide engineering teams while remaining close to implementation. This is an opportunity to influence not just individual AI solutions, but the architecture and operating model behind an organization's broader AI transformation.
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- Extensive experience in enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cloud, automation, software engineering or related technology areas.
- Approximately 15+ years of relevant professional experience, with substantial hands-on delivery experience.
- Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise AI, Generative AI or automation platforms beyond the POC stage.
- Strong knowledge of LLMs, foundation models, RAG, Agentic RAG, embeddings, vector databases and AI agents.
- Experience with AI architecture, model selection, evaluation, governance and lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft AI technologies such as Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Copilot and Copilot Studio.
- Experience with automation technologies including Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Terraform/OpenTofu, APIs and CI/CD.
- Broad understanding of Data Center, Network, Security, Workplace, Cloud and Service Management environments.
- Experience with AIOps, observability, SRE/NRE/PRE/MIRE and autonomous operations.
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust, AI security, identity, governance and privileged access.
- Experience designing reusable architecture patterns, platforms and integration frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across engineering, architecture, business and executive audiences.
- Relevant university degree or equivalent practical experience.
You are comfortable operating between strategy and engineering. You can see the bigger picture, but you also understand what it takes to make an architecture work in production. You are curious, pragmatic and able to make technology choices based on business value, security, reliability and long-term scalability.
