About the position
Sourcing & Origination The primary focus of this position will be developing and managing a strong international sourcing network.
Responsibilities will include:
- Originate fertilizer, chemical, and mineral products directly from producers, manufacturers, and established suppliers. Identify new producers and suppliers across key international markets. Develop direct relationships with decision-makers at producing companies. Negotiate competitive purchase prices and commercial terms. Secure reliable and commercially attractive sources of supply. Monitor producer availability, production levels, export volumes, and market conditions. Identify new sourcing opportunities before they become widely available in the market. Build a diversified supplier portfolio across different geographic markets. Maintain regular communication with suppliers to understand upcoming availability and pricing. Develop long-term strategic relationships with key producers and suppliers. International Commodity Trading The successful candidate will manage the complete trading process from sourcing through to final delivery.
This will include:
- Identify and evaluate new trading opportunities. Assess market pricing, margins, supply availability, and customer demand. Structure profitable international commodity transactions. Negotiate purchase and sales transactions. Manage the full trade lifecycle from procurement to final delivery. Monitor trading margins and transaction profitability. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions. Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of trading opportunities. Increase trading volumes while maintaining appropriate commercial and counterparty risk. Identify opportunities to expand into new products and geographical markets. Sales & Business Development The role will also have a strong commercial and customer-facing element.
You will:
- Develop relationships with international buyers, distributors, importers, and end-users.
- Identify new customers and trading partners.
- Understand customer requirements, purchasing cycles, volumes, specifications, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate commercial terms and pricing with buyers.
- Develop repeat business with strategic customers.
- Expand the company's customer base across priority international markets.
- Build long-term relationships rather than focusing only on individual transactions.
- Identify opportunities to increase wallet share with existing customers.
- Work directly with buyers in Brazil and Latin America.
- Collaborate with the company's local trading team in Brazil to develop new opportunities.
- Commercial & Contract Management
- You will be responsible for ensuring that transactions are commercially sound and properly structured.
Responsibilities include:
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, specifications, and contractual conditions.
- Prepare and negotiate purchase and sales contracts.
- Review commercial risks before execution.
- Ensure transactions are aligned with company policies and trading strategies.
- Monitor contractual obligations from both suppliers and customers.
- Follow up on outstanding commercial matters.
- Work with finance teams on payment structures and trade finance requirements.
- Support the management of letters of credit and other international payment mechanisms.
- Ensure all transactions are properly documented and executed.
- Market Intelligence
- A strong understanding of global fertilizer markets will be essential.

- Follow freight and shipping costs.
- Monitor currency movements and relevant market factors.

- Risk Management
- The successful candidate will be expected to understand and manage the commercial risks associated with international commodity trading.
This includes:

- You will work with relevant internal teams to ensure transactions are structured with an appropriate balance between commercial opportunity and risk.
Logistics & Trade Execution You will work closely with logistics, shipping, finance, and operations teams to ensure transactions are completed efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate international shipments from origin to destination.
- Work with shipping and logistics providers.
- Support vessel nominations and shipping schedules.
- Negotiate freight where required.
- Monitor shipment progress.
- Ensure required trade documentation is completed accurately.
- Coordinate with suppliers, customers, shipping companies, and internal stakeholders.
- Resolve operational issues that may arise during the trade lifecycle.
- Ensure delivery commitments are met. Products Covered The role will focus primarily on fertilizer and related commodity products, including but not limited to:
- Sulphur
- Urea
- Rock Phosphate
- DAP — Diammonium Phosphate
- MAP — Monoammonium Phosphate
- NPK Fertilizers
- Ammonium Sulphate
- Other fertilizer products
- Related agricultural commodities
- Selected chemical and mineral commodities

Job Requirements
Education
A Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas is preferred:
- Business
- International Trade
- Economics
- Agriculture
- Supply Chain
- Chemical Engineering
- Finance
- Logistics
- Or a related discipline
- Additional qualifications in commodity trading, international trade, finance, logistics, or supply chain management would be advantageous.
Professional Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5–10 years of experience in international commodity trading.
- Strong experience in fertilizer, chemical, mineral, or related commodity markets.
- Demonstrated experience in sourcing and origination.
- A proven record of executing international commodity transactions.
- Strong experience in commercial negotiations.
- Experience managing transactions from procurement through to delivery.
- Good understanding of international commodity trading economics.
- Experience working with producers, suppliers, buyers, distributors, and end-users.
- Strong understanding of international logistics and trade finance.
- Candidates who can demonstrate a proven record of profitable trading performance will be particularly attractive.

You will join the company's Dubai-based Trading Team, working closely with senior management and international trading, finance, logistics, and operations teams.
The position will have significant responsibility for developing the company's fertilizer and related commodity trading activities.
The role will involve regular interaction with:
- International producers and manufacturers
- Commodity suppliers and distributors
- Fertilizer buyers and end-users
- Trading houses
- Importers and exporters
- Shipping and logistics partners
- Financial institutions and trade finance teams
- Internal trading and commercial teams
- A key part of the position will be strengthening the company's access to international supply and expanding its customer network.
The trader will also work closely with the company's local trading team in Brazil, supporting market development, buyer relationships, and trading opportunities in Brazil and wider Latin America.
