As a Senior GIS Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the continued development of our clients mapping and GIS capabilities. You'll work closely with the Product Owner, CTO, and development team to enhance existing functionality and build new integrations with external GIS platforms.

Technologies you will work with:

  • ASP.NET Web Forms and ASP.NET Web API on .NET Framework 4.8
  • VB.NET as the primary backend language
  • SQL Server and LINQ to SQL
  • TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Google Maps JavaScript API, map layers, markers, clustering, drawing tools, and geometry handling
  • GDAL/OGR, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, and other geospatial data formats
  • WMS, WMTS, WFS, XYZ tiles, ArcGIS REST Server, and Vetro FiberMap
  • REST/JSON integrations, webhooks, and third-party APIs

Your responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance interactive mapping functionality for large-scale infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Build and maintain integrations with GIS platforms and mapping services such as ArcGIS REST Server, Vetro FiberMap, WMS, WMTS, WFS, and XYZ tile layers.
  • Work with geospatial data formats and GIS data management, including GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, coordinates, lines, polygons, and project boundaries.
  • Develop backend functionality using VB.NET/.NET Framework 4.8, ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET Web API, and JSON-based APIs.
  • Develop frontend functionality using TypeScript and JavaScript with the Google Maps JavaScript API.
  • Work with SQL Server, LINQ to SQL, and data models for projects, maps, and system integrations.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and improve existing GIS workflows, import/export functionality, webhooks, and system synchronizations.
  • Contribute to code reviews, technical decisions, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the team.

This is a long term assignment, where the end goal is to be recruited by our client after the initial 12 months - as long as everybody is happy with the collaboration.

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has several years of experience in software development and a strong interest in GIS, mapping, and geospatial technologies.
  • Has hands-on experience with GIS platforms, mapping services, coordinate systems, vector and raster data, or geospatial data formats.
  • Is confident in backend development with .NET (preferably VB.NET or C#) and SQL Server.
  • Has experience with web development using JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
  • Enjoys working with and evolving a mature software product with an established codebase, long-term customers, and a proven track record.
  • Is comfortable analyzing complex workflows, troubleshooting integrations, and developing robust, maintainable solutions.
  • Is a collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and contributing to high-quality, sustainable software development.
  • Fluent in Swedish and English, both in written and verbal language

It's not a must, but a plus if you also have experience with:

  • ArcGIS, Vetro FiberMap, QGIS, PostGIS, or other GIS platforms.
  • WMS, WMTS, WFS, XYZ tiles, Tile Map Service, geofencing, or spatial filtering.
  • GDAL/OGR, geospatial data conversion, import/export, or coordinate transformations.
  • Google Maps JavaScript API, marker clustering, drawing tools, and custom overlays.
  • Webhooks, system synchronization, and third-party API integrations.
  • ASP.NET Web Forms, legacy application modernization, or large-scale SaaS products with a substantial active user base.
  • Code reviews, CI/CD, Azure Pipelines, and working in distributed development teams.
