About the position

Start: August  Duration: Full time, 6 months with possibility for extension  Location: Gothenburg

Our client is an innovative technology company developing advanced software and embedded systems for the automotive industry. Working at the forefront of electrification and next-generation vehicle technology, they collaborate with leading automotive manufacturers to deliver high-quality software solutions for safety-critical applications.

We are now looking for an Embedded Software Test Engineer to strengthen their development team. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of embedded software through both manual and automated testing. You'll work closely with software developers, system engineers, and cross-functional teams to define test strategies, develop automated test solutions, and verify software functionality throughout the development lifecycle.

The position combines hands-on testing with test automation and offers the opportunity to work with advanced validation environments, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL). You'll play an important role in identifying defects, improving test processes, and ensuring that software meets both customer expectations and automotive industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, improving software quality, and working with modern embedded systems in a collaborative engineering environment.

Job Requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Several years of experience in software testing within embedded systems or the automotive industry.
  • Strong experience developing automated test solutions using Python.
  • Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and/or Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing.
  • Experience designing, executing, and maintaining test cases, test plans, and test documentation.
  • A good understanding of requirements-based testing and traceability.
  • Experience working closely with software development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and document software defects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

It is considered an advantage if you also have experience with:

  • Vector-based HIL environments such as CANoe.
  • CAPL scripting.
  • High-voltage (HV) systems, electric powertrain, or automotive propulsion systems.
  • XCP, ETK, VX1000, or similar automotive measurement and calibration tools.
  • Automotive functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and development processes including ASPICE.
  • An educational background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field.

As a person, you are structured, detail-oriented, and quality-driven. You enjoy working collaboratively, have a proactive mindset, and are motivated by solving complex technical challenges. You take ownership of your work and continuously look for opportunities to improve testing processes, automation, and software quality.
