We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our fully remote tech team at asuro GmbH  a digital-first company transforming the insurance industry with cutting-edge solutions. You will play a crucial role in designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and automated cloud infrastructure in AWS, supporting high-performance applications and a large, mission-critical production database that serves thousands of users daily. This is a fully remote position — we believe great work can happen from anywhere. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across Europe in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with a focus on reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Ensure the stability and high availability of our large-scale, business-critical production database.
  • Automate deployments and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, or similar).
  • Use Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) to version and deploy infrastructure.
  • Operate containerized environments (Docker, ECS, or EKS) and implement monitoring and logging solutions (CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Troubleshoot production issues, optimize system performance, and support incident response.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, and architecture teams on infrastructure best practices.
  • Contribute to cloud security, compliance (e.g., GDPR), and documentation processes. Requirements 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, ECS/EKS, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
  • Proven expertise in managing high-traffic, high-availability systems and databases.
  • Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with Docker and container orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes).
  • Competence in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and cloud networking.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in both German and English.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working in a fully remote setup.
  • Nice to Have AWS certifications (e.g., DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect).
  • Familiarity with .NET-based environments.
  • Experience in regulated sectors (finance, insurance, healthcare).
  • Knowledge of security practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
